Dyffryn Gardens 2014 - Green maple

This  green leaved maple is another variant. Like the azalea, maples have a huge amount of varieties with different colours and patterns on their very striking foliage. The smooth bark tends to be more characteristic, though cork-like bark varieties are also seen relatively regularly.

There is no strong bend in the trunk, and the foliage is relatively evenly distributed over the top half of the tree, left and right, front and back. This is a form of broom style. However, the use of negative space, or gaps, between the branches prevent it feeling ‘heavy’.

  1. Thanks Dave, that’s fantastic.
Lovely writing and also the pictures.

  2. Lovely Site, I missed the show this year, it was really nice to see in such clarity on a easy to use site well done, a fab turn out. Well done Paul for the Crataegus It’s a stunner. I’ve got a nice goats year willow in a bucket to swap you for it.

    Thanks
    Jules
